Great Wall
The Great Wall was built by the first emperor, Qin shi Huangdi during the Qin dynasty. Later this great man made military defense, which had protect the territories of Beijing and keep off the incursions from the Huns in the north after unification, was lengthened, improved and reconstructed by the next dynasties. Nowadays, the best reserved is the wall built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)). It goes from the Yalu River in Liaoning Province in the east to Jiayuguan Pass in Gansu Province in the west, and its length is more than 6,000 kilometers.
The best section of the Great Wall, which is more than 7 meters high and 5 meters wide, is at Badalin. The Great Wall can be distinguished as the history of China. Each part of the wall excites the tourists very much and there is no doubt that it was by right listed as "a World Cultural Heritage" by the UNESCO in 1987.
Beihai Park
In the very center of Beijing City you can find Beihai Park. It has thousand years history of five dynasties: iao, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasty. There are lots of beautiful and noticeable places in this Park that we suggest you to visit. The symbol of Beihai Park is a Bai Ta (White Dagoba). The Body of Bai Ta has a height of 40 meters, made of white stones and situated in the highest point on Qiong Island and can be easily seen when you enter the Park.
There is a famous scene on the north bank of Beihai, Five-Dragon Pavilion.It has five pavilions, which are linked with each other by bridges, floating on the surface of the water like five dragons playing with pearls on the water. Emperors and their wives liked to come here to fish or watch the moon.
Besides the places described about, there is definitely many other attractive places to go. But at last, do not forget to visit Tuancheng, which is at the south-west corner of Beihai Park. Tuancheng was the palace for the emperors only, here you can see Chengguang Palace and Yuweng Pavilion as well as beautiful small scenes like hills, big stones, corridors and small pavilions.
Summer Palace
In case you want to visit the largest imperial garden in the world, have a tour to Beijing and visit Summer Palace. It's a powerful symbol of one of the major world civilization, which has the best ancient buildings because of its 800 years. Summer Palace has three main parts which are Long corridor, Longevity Hill, and Kumming Lake. The Summer Palace occupies the territory of 294 hectares (726.5 acres), three quarters of which is water. Guided by nature, artists designed the gardens exquisitely so that visitors would see marvelous views and be amazed by perfect examples of refined craftwork using the finest materials.
Temple of Heaven
There is no doubt that Temple of Heaven is the place worth visiting. It was build in 1420 A. D. by the Ming Dynasty. Chinese emperors considered themselves to be 'The Son of Heaven' and the Temple had to offer sacrifice to Heaven. The central buildings of the Temple of Heaven are placed at the south and north ends of the middle axis line of the inner part. The Temple itself divided into inner part and outer part by two long walls. Nearly all the buildings are connected by a wide bridge called Vermilion Steps Bridge (Danbiqiao). The most marvellous places are The Circular Mound Altar (Yuanqiutan), Imperial Vault of Heaven (Huangqiongyu) and Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest (Qiniandian) from south to north. There is one more very popular among visitors is three Echo Stones of the gate of the Imperial Vault of Heaven and Echo Wall with unique feature. If you together with your friend stand at the east and the west roots of the wall properly, you can whisper a word and your friend will hear what you say.
Jingshan Park
Jingshan Park is situated strictly to the north of the Forbidden City's Shenwu Gate. It was build by the Jin Dynasty and has a history of more than 800 years. Jingshan Park is the highest point in Beijing City and gorgeous imperial park. In ancient times it belonged to the emperors in the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties (1271-1911). Those who want to pay respects to the ancestors of the imperial family or just enjoy attractions of Jingshan Park can go to a special place at the northern foot of Jingshan Hill is the Shouhuang Palace (Hall of Imperial Longevity). The Yongsi and the Guande Palaces ( to the east of the Shouhuang Palace) were used to let the bodies of the dead emperors and empresses of the Qing Dynasty lie in state.
