Shanghai Beauties


Find a few days while you travel China to visit Shanghai, the first of all is the largest industrial and business centre. Business and shopping centres of the city attract the visitors no less than its sightseeings. In case you travel China and decided to go to Shanghai we suggest that you visit its top attractions. They are Jade Buddha Temple, Huangpu River and the Bund, Longhua Park and  Shanghai Museum.

Jade Buddha Temple

Jade Buddha Temple was built in 1882 for keeping 2 Buddha statues brought from Burma. This Temple is the largest and the most famous Buddhist temple in Shanghai. The statues were made of white jade. There are also somewhere about 7000 copies of Buddhist Holy Scriptures in a temple. (from the files about best places and something from adventures).

Huangpu River and the Bund

Huangpu River and the Bund attracts visitors with its beauty and perfect opportunity to view the marvelous landscapes of Shanghai and at the same time to have a trip through the longstanding history of China. Active interest to excursion along the river was followed by building of special 646.7-meter-long sightseeing tunnel. Since October 2000 all visitors can enjoy a trip  under water. This tunnel joins the Bund with  Oriental Pearl TV Tower.

Longhua Park

Longhua Park is situated in the southwest part of  Shanghai. There are a temple and pagoda on the territory of the park. Both constructions date from the 242 year A.D., but since Three Kingdoms Period they were wrecked and reconstructed many times. The Longhua Park you can see nowadays was build when Qing dynasty was in power. In this attractive place you can find Buddhist Holy scriptures and statues of Tang, Ming and Qing dynasties.

Shanghai Museum

In contrast to the ancient attractions in this city, the museum was build in 1996. It is situated on the People’s Square and has a form of huge urn made of bronze. There are 123,000 cultural artefacts, collections of ceramics, bronze, calligraphy and art works. Besides the museum People’s Square with its huge musical fountain and lovely lawns is very popular attraction itself.

Buses

City buses in Shanghai are very comfortable. (About buses from Beijing file) … So make sure that you have some small change.

Underground

Shanghai underground is comfortable, safe and fast among all others means of transportation. If you go by underground you have a pleasant opportunity to view such sightseeings as the Bund, Longhua Temple, Huaihai Road, Nanjing Road and Xujiahui.

Sightseeing Bus (from 8:00 to 22:30 daily)

The ticket for sightseeing bus costs 2 yuan per person and it’s actual during the whole day in bought it. While your trip you will see the Bund, People Square, Yuyuan Garden and Oriental Pearl TV Tower.

Taxi

There are five taxi companies in Shanghai, which have their own colours. Dazhong (sky blue), Qiangsheng (orange), Bashi (green), Nonggongshang (blue) and Jinjiang (white). Sky blue and orange companies are considered to be the best. Prices: daytime (5.00 – 23.00) – 11 yuan for the fist 3 km. plus 2.1 yuan for every extra kilometre up to 10 km. and 3.15 yuan for every extra kilometer; by night (23.00 – 5.00) – 14 yuan for the first 3 km. plus 2.73 yuan for every extra kilometre up to 10 km. and 3.36 yuan for every extra kilometre after 10 km.

Weather

Shanghai is considered to be the city of four seasons. Winters usually dull with rare snowfalls. The temperature may go down to – 10C. It’s always rainy in early summer and the temperature during the summer season may rise up to + 41C. Despite the fact that it’s extremely hot and stuffy outside, summer is the most intensive tourist season. Spring is considered to be the best season to visit Zhanghai because of warm weather and rare rains. Autumn is mainly warm, dry and sunny.
